Are You Ready For Medicare Open Enrollment?

August 14, 2024

While fall conjures up images of colorful foliage and hot apple cider, it is also a good time to think about your Medicare plan.

October 15 marks the start of the Medicare open enrollment period, which runs through December 7. Whether you’re new to Medicare or already enrolled in a plan, this is your chance to make decisions about your healthcare coverage for 2023.

It can be tempting to take the easy road and stick with what you already have. But considering the lifetime costs of healthcare for a couple in retirement are expected to exceed $315,000, your decisions regarding Medicare coverage can have a long-term impact.1

Take a few minutes today to identify your current coverage and consider your health status. Has anything evolved with your health over the last year? Are you considering any new procedures during the coming year? A lot can change in 12 months, meaning it’s possible your current coverage may no longer be appropriate for your healthcare needs or budget.

Between October 15 and December 7, you’ll have the opportunity to do things like change from Original Medicare (Parts A, B, D) to Medicare Advantage (Part C), or vice versa, change your prescription drug coverage, and more. Any changes you make during this time will go into effect on January 1, 2023.

We know Medicare can be confusing, and comparing plans isn’t always easy. Please take a few minutes this fall to schedule time with our team. Together, we can discuss your concerns and our office can help you identify any resources you may need if a change in coverage is needed.
